What Are Pre-Orders?
A Pre-Order is a commitment to purchase an item that has not yet arrived in stock. Most items listed as “Pre-Order” on our website have not been released or shipped by the manufacturer. Pre-Order items are processed and shipped as they become available. There is no need to place a new order once the item is in stock. Our team will automatically process and ship the item using the details from your original order. Any updates related to a Pre-Order should be handled by our customer service team. The best way to change, cancel, or update a Pre-Order is by emailing us at sales@oldenginehouse.com.
Where Is My Pre-Order?
You can check the status of your Pre-Order, along with the Estimated Availability and price, by visiting "My Pre-Orders" in your OldEngineHouse.com account.
In addition to the Estimated Availability date in the "My Pre-Orders" section, this date can also be found on the product page. If no date is listed, it means we do not yet have an expected availability date for that item.
Please note that Estimated Availability dates are not guaranteed shipping dates and may change.
Due to the nature of the Model Railroad industry, it is possible that your Pre-Order request may take longer to fulfill or could be canceled at any time.
Can The Price Of My Pre-Order Change?
If the cost to manufacture an item increases, the manufacturer may raise the price for Old Engine House, and we may need to adjust your Pre-Order price. In such cases, we will notify you before shipping so that you can confirm if you'd like to proceed with the purchase. While this is rare, we will keep you informed of any price fluctuations.
Placing A Pre-Order
Placing a Pre-Order is similar to placing an order for in-stock items.
To place a Pre-Order, simply log into your account, add the desired Pre-Order product(s) to your cart, and complete the checkout process.
Once you've successfully checked out, you will receive an order confirmation number.
At the time of ordering, we do not charge for Pre-Order items. However, you will need to have a valid payment method on file. When your Pre-Order item(s) are in stock, we will charge the payment method for the item(s), shipping, and applicable tax.
Old Engine House reserves the right to require a deposit or full payment for any Pre-Order items without prior notice.
Please note that deposits are non-refundable.
While we may not always be able to advertise manufacturer Pre-Order deadlines, it's important to understand that they do exist. To avoid missing out, we recommend placing your Pre-Order sooner rather than later.
Multiple Pre-Orders
Pre-Order items may have varying Estimated Availability dates and are not guaranteed to arrive at our facility at the same time. As items become available, we will charge and ship them. If multiple Pre-Order items are ready to ship, we will combine them into one order to reduce shipping costs. If Pre-Order items are not available at the same time, we cannot hold items to wait for other Pre-Ordered items to arrive.
Pre-Order Payment
Pre-Order items will be charged and shipped as they become available. The card used for the Pre-Order reservation will be charged first. If that card declines, we will proceed with any additional cards on file.
If we are unable to process the payment, or if any information requires confirmation, we will contact you via phone or email.
Your prompt attention to these matters is greatly appreciated.
PLEASE NOTE: To better serve our customers, we will make up to three attempts over three business days to process your order. After this time, we will cancel the order, and you may reorder at your convenience.
Need To Cancel A Pre-Order?
We understand that cancellations may happen. However, as a professional courtesy, we ask that cancellations be communicated in advance so that we can adjust our orders accordingly.
Our ordering process is based largely on Pre-Order reservations, and frequent cancellations can impact our ability to serve all customers efficiently. Excessive cancellations require us to resell items we've already purchased and prevent other customers from completing their orders.
In some cases, we are limited by the number of Pre-Orders we can accept. Cancellations represent missed opportunities for other customers. For these reasons, we kindly ask that you honor your Pre-Order commitment.
Customers cannot cancel a Pre-Order directly through their OldEngineHouse.com account. To cancel, please contact customer service at sales@oldenginehouse.com or call 1-866-519-5155. Be sure to provide your order number, the product(s) to be canceled, and, if possible, a reason for the cancellation.
Additionally, we will not accept Pre-Orders from customers who have a history of excessive cancellations. In extreme cases, excessive cancellations may lead to the revocation of Pre-Order privileges. Customers whose privileges have been revoked may purchase items as they become available in stock.
Pre-Orders, E-Gift Cards, and Store Credits
E-Gift Cards must be redeemed as Store Credit in your Old Engine House account if they are to be used toward a Pre-Order.
If Store Credit is available when your Pre-Order arrives, the credit will be applied to the total cost.
